Came here for a walk today and it was a very picturesque trail to visit. There were loads of amazing sights and /5(7). Padley Gorge is just 1/2 mile from the National Trust's beautiful Longshaw Estate. It is between the village of Grindleford and the A road.

You can park at Grindleford and scramble up Upper Padley, or at Surprise View car park. Cross the road and head through the rocks until you get to Padley Gorge. Padley Gorge Trail Dog Walking. The National Trust welcomes dogs on leads throughout the Longshaw Estate.

Padley Gorge has been on the list of long forgotten birdwatching destinations I never quite seem to make it to, like other birding sites of local reknown well within easy reach, Lound, Holme Pierrepont and Willington Gravel Pits, to name just three, much heard of but never given time to.

So it makes me rather happy to type up a post about my visit to Padley Gorge. Padley Gorge is home to a number of endangered species of birds, including pied flycatchers, wood warblers and hawfinches, as well as rare plant life.

The northern edge of Padley Gorge, where Burbage Brook leaves the edge of Burbarge Moor and runs towards the National Trust estate at Longshaw, is extremely popular with families in the summer. The boggart trail inspires and excites children encourage them to find 6 boggart hiding places around Longshaw.

Padley Gorge (pictured right) is a delight, an ancient wood of mainly oak and ash, with a stream either trickling or roaring below, depending on the weather. It's a place to linger and relax, encouraged by the fact that the going is quite steep in places.
